Description
1951 Studebaker Pickup Graphite
Graphite pencils on 12X18 Fabriano Artistico, 140 LB Hot Press Watercolor Paper, 40 hours
The sheet of paper was 12X18, but i made the drawing smaller so that it would fit into a standard mat opening of 11X14 as presented here.
This is for , it is his truck, drawn from a reference photograph that he sent to me last year. He has waited a long time for me to get this done. I have not been very prolific at all.
This is the graphite part, the establishment of the values...and so they are rather soft and not too much definition. They will darken up and become better defined when i go over this with acrylic glazes. The truck has a beautiful custom paint job of yellow and turquoise, with a magenta stripe.
In the photograph, the truck stands in front of a building, and this building is reflected on the hood and around the side. I elected to take this reflection out to show sweeping clouds on the hood and a tree line on the side.
I am not sure about the license plate. It looks better in person, but the value of the plate is messed up some. The shadow under the front of the truck also looks much better in person.
I am still learning and growing...but this is a good effort. It was hard to build up any momentum due to some physical restraints i had. But i ended up with a good drawing on the paper.
Here is the reference photograph that i used [link] .

I love it I have a 49 Studebaker that I'm working on right now. I learned to drive stick on it
